Proactive vs Reactive

1 Kings 21-22

Ahab did not think the impact of his actions. He wanted Naboth's vineyard and obeyed his wife although it was evil in the eyes of God. Then, God told him that God will destroy him, his wife, and his family. He was regret and humble himself before God.

There are two types of people in this world. First, reactive people. These people is quick to act according to the condition of their heart, desire, and their situation. They did not think about the impact of their actions. They did not think about what is right. Such people mostly would regret their actions. Secondly, proactive people. These people do not act directly. They thought about the impact of their actions before they take an action. They are careful in doing things. They know and holds the right principles. They still do what is right without being affected by the condition of their heart, desire, and situation. Such people mostly would not regret their actions.

Ahab is a reactive person. He acted according to the condition of his heart. He was persuaded by his wife and sold himself out to do what the Lord says is evil. He do as he wants and not do what is right
Jehoshaphat is a proactive person. When Ahab asked him to fight against Ramoth - Gilead, he did not agree immediately. He thought of the impact. He thought about whether this is the right decision and in accordance with God wants or not. He did not act on his own desire and understanding. He followed what God wants even if it was a disaster.

Be a proactive person. Think of what the impact of your actions. Act carefully in accordance with the Word of God. Know and do what is right. Do what God wants. Do not act based on what you desire or how you feel.

"Wise people always think before they do anything, but fools show how stupid they are by what they do." Proverbs 13:16 (ERV)
